Elderly Siblings Need to Move This Weekend (6/2-3)

Okay Volunteers! Our friend Fred and his sister Carol are in their 70's and have finally found a nice home! They need our help moving their belongings from a storage unit this weekend - about 6 folks should do the trick. Can you help them get settled and have some long awaited peace? Let me know and tell your friends! We can do this!
Thank you!

This Just In:

Friends! This just in:
Jeanne is a senior living alone and she needs to move from her 2nd floor apartment to one on the first floor (she has a small dog and it's easier to care for him on the first floor.) The apartment is ready to move into as of today, and she needs help packing her kitchen and bathroom (she has no one to help her) and to move downstairs anytime this week/weekend. Can you help her pack? Help with the move? We need a couple folks to pack and then it shouldn't be too hard for about 4 folks to do the move. Let me know! Thank you!

THIS ONE IS A MUST READ!

You have to hear what this woman said to me:
Ellie is 86 and living alone. Her husband passed away years ago and she has not been able to find anyone to help her with keeping up her home (sometimes one neighbor will help out, but he isn't always around.) Her husband won "a roomful" of awards for his volunteering and other community efforts (he founded South Side Lion's Park!) and she has this to say -
"I am crying. I can't believe you exist! Most of my family lives out of town and the neighbors keep changing. My husband gave and gave and gave his whole life and when he died, I found no one to help me. He used to give old ladies like me rides to the grocery store. I have been wondering what is wrong, what happened to people? Well now that I know about you, my faith is renewed that this is still Missoula - people still care."  She kept saying "I am so alone out here. I just need PEOPLE."

Imagine Missoula, this is it. This is why we exist and why we love you. Would you like to be one of the folks that Ellie can call on for help? Let me know.

Also, our friend Sharon needs her post painted (easy peasy) and some light yardwork. Her caregiver is leaving town as well, so when he does we will need to jump in to do some of the things he has been doing (mowing, etc.)

Thanks to Tracy and Jeremy, Tyler, Scott S., the tenacious folks from Inner Roads/Youth Homes, and the gentlemen from Isaac's House in the Bitterroot for your work last week! You are keeping the energy going to keep loving these neighbors.

Good work everyone!!!

This week: lovely yardwork and a bit o' painting

Hi all! On this glorious day we have some folks who could use our help:
Sarah needs mowing and edging (please bring yours),
Sharon needs a post stained and some simple yardwork, and
Barb needs a flower bed established (a crew would work best for this one.)
All of these ladies are friends of ours through Missoula Aging Services and we are so glad to know them!
Thanks to Elise and Jake, to Patty and Dale, Kacey and Travis, Christine and Katrina, Jill, and Dan for helping all those neighbors last week! Wow!!!
Call me if you want to help us keep on imagining a better Missoula! :)

Plumbing, Mowing and More

Happy Monday! Please check out the needs for the week, jump in where you can and pass along the info if you know someone who can help:

Deborah is a woman living alone who has a very leaky sink in her bathroom (she is a contractor's daughter and would love to fix it herself, but cannot because of her disabilities,)
Brenda needs someone to mow her lawn (we will need to bring a mower, so if you have one that's great or we can borrow a friend's,)
Verna needs a sewing machine and a couple other items she bought from a friend picked up and delivered to her since she is over 80 years old and cannot lift them,
and Lou Ann still needs the other half of her yard raked.
We just keep helping these neighbors, week after week, and they have come to rely on us a group that they can count on to help them when they have no one else to turn to. Good work, Imagine Missoula volunteers! You are the life of this community.
Talk with you soon!

Thank you's and Holly

Thanks to Dan for offering to fix the mower for Helen!
Thanks to Ryan S for checking out the deck and stairs for Karen and for Amy S at Inner Roads (an amazing program of Missoula Youth Homes) for a crew to help him out!
And we have a little time to help Mary with her rides to the store in June (but keep it on your radar!)
Mowers are out mowing, raking has been done, Kathleen is getting rides to see her children, and we are planning some fun projects like fence painting for warmer days! Folks are making friends through these simple acts of service!

Please, if you can, help Holly organize and get stuff to her storage space so her trailer is more livable for her family. Let me know if you can spend a little time with her.
Thank you!

Here's a quote for the day that I just love:
"Let us not be satisfied with just giving money. Money is not enough, money can be got, but they need your hearts to love them. So, spread your love everywhere you go."
Mother Teresa

Have a great day!
