What a list! Look at what we are gonna do this week!

Check out this list for next week (or this weekend if you want to jump in!)
We are meeting needs for folks that have no one to help them like crazy right now Imagine Missoula!! You are AMAZING!!!! <3
NANCY is legally blind and cannot hear. She needs assistance during the cold months.  She can only drink bottled water and picks up 4 cases once a month.  She does not drive which makes it difficult during the winter months.   She would like help once a month bringing the bottled water home.  She lives one mile from Albertson’s.
MARY needs to have the stairs and ramp to her trailer sanded and re-stained.  Her son had come and helped with painting but his girls helped and they missed a few spots - so those need painting as well.
BEA just moved into a new place and needs help putting up towel bars and her smoke alarm (the new one she bought doesn't fit the bracket where the old one was.)  She also has two light fixtures that need to be screwed on (no electrical work involved.)
SALLY Needs some heavy boxes moved from storage.  Her son has been helping her and is not able to move these last few boxes.
GERALD is an elderly veteran living with disabilities and alone and he needs to move sometime by the 30th.
AND. . .
SHAWN has donated his portable clothes washer to a 78 year old woman who has been washing her clothes with a toilet plunger in her bathtub, and just needs it picked up and delivered.
PHEW! No prob though - Imagine Missoula volunteers can do ANYTHING! That's what we've been doing for the last 4 years - and Missoulians and folks all around the country know that we have something really special.
Thanks, you all!

Volunteer of the Month and TEAM MOW 2014!

Here is Todd Cross, our volunteer of the month! He is so dedicated to helping others, being a good neighbor and is always available when we are in a pinch! I have grown to depend on him as a valuable part of our helping community. Thank you Todd!
"I volunteer because there are so many in Missoula who are in need of a little help, and it's encouraging to see what a difference can be made in others' lives and in our own when we take time to respond to others' needs.  I've found that personal fulfillment is achieved through  acts of service, especially alongside others."

Now is the time to form TEAM MOW 2014! If you would like to mow regularly for a person this summer, join the Team! When you go out of town, we can cover you, and some folks have mowers on site and some do not. Please let me know if you are interested asap! Folks who have had one round are ready for the next!
Thank you ALL!!

My Hard Lesson In Empathy

I have been sick (like the stay in bed kind) for the last week. One day I came downstairs and looked out the window at the field of weeds, and I was wracked with guilt, embarrassed and concerned that my neighbors would be upset with me. I wanted my beautiful starts in the ground, but there they were, withering on the kitchen counter. I know that I will get well enough to get out there, that I have enough money for another set of starts. This is really a minor set back. Then I thought of all the people waiting for help from us with weeds, mowing, and planting and how they are not going to get well, and cannot replace starts as easily, and how for them, it can mean that they cannot live in their homes anymore. Wow. This is why we do this.

GIVE LOCAL is HAPPENING NOW!!

Hi All!
WOW! Give Local Missoula has already raised over $35,000 since midnight last night! And Imagine Missoula has over $1000! You only have until midnight TONIGHT to give to local nonprofits and be part of this new Missoula tradition! Could you please donate just $10? Imagine what could happen if EVERYONE gave just $10? That would make a huge impact on our ability to keep helping Missoula neighbors in need. Huge. And we operate on donations and the big hearts of our volunteers, so we need your help!
Please go to the link and donate to IM, and the nonprofits of your choice (you can choose more than one!)
Thank you!

Volunteer of the Month!

Here is our volunteer of the month for April - Pete Torbergson! He is an RSVP volunteer who I can count for thorough, thoughtful handy work! He amazes me, and I am honored to have him as part of our helping community! Comment here to let Pete know that you appreciate him too!
"One day, I’m going to be too old to do the simple things I now take for granted. I think that’s why I help people. I do for them the things they can no longer do for themselves. It gives me a sense of accomplishment. And I know they really appreciate the help."

THANK you's and this week's BIG need!

Here come the THANK YOU's from last week - ready?
Thank you to Sabra, Olivia, Todd, David, Jon, Andrew, Nathaniel, Mike,KellyChris, Larry, Laurie, Elder Spencer Holland and crew, Gary, Sally, Alyssa and Julie for the AWESOME work you did gardening, raking, shed building, moving, and even curtain hanging for our neighbors in need! WOW what a crew!!
This week, a biggie:
Homeless family with 3 kids finally has a home! Need 8-10 folks to empty 3 10x20 storage units and take to the new place. A big job, but so worth it to get them into a home! Mom, Christy, needs to have major surgery in Seattle next week, so can we try to get this done anytime from 4/15 in the afternoon on? Ask a friend to help! Bring joy and hope to this lovely family.
Referral was from the Missoula Interfaith Collaborative.
I will post more as they come in!
Thank you for all you do!
